We try and make this site easy for everyone to access. If you're on a blackberry, if you have a visual impairment, or if English is a second language for you, we still want it to be easy for you to read our content.
All our images have extra information (Alternative text tags). If you can't see our images for some reason you'll know what we're showing in them.
Every time we use JavaScript, Adobe Flash or any other technology to enhance your experience we make sure we don't take anything away for those users who are not able to access those features. Maybe it's your corporate firewall, or maybe you just don't trust them newfangled technologies like Flash, or you had a bad experience with JavaScript [popup window] [popup window] [popup window] in the past - we think you're still a valuable audience.
While you may think we're nice blokes for making this effort, we're also serving our own needs. The largest visually impaired user on the internet is the Google indexing engine. Google can't see our images when it visits our website. So our text descriptions allow everyone - especially those search engines we'd like to display our pages [Hello Google!] can index all our content.
